Korea Design & Packaging Center was
established in 1970 with the merger of Korea Packaging
Institute (1966) and Korea Design Center (1966) and Korea
Export Packaging Center (1969).
The centre is a non-profit statutory body
for research and development and promotion of industrial
design and packaging in accordance with the Act on industrial
design and packaging promotion.
 Staff:
There are 313 full time staff (including 151 factory workers)
of whom 21 are packaging professionals.

R&D
Services:
Has carried out projects on various topics for improving
packaging standards as Agro-marine products, fruits,
corrugated fibre board, anti-rust packaging.
Technical
Services:
Has developed 181 kinds of Korean Industrial Standards (KS)
related to packaging as of 1987. Also offers service of
standard testing facilities for packaging materials and
packaging.
Training
Services:
Organises one regular educational course each year. (a 6-week
Packaging Engineer Course).
Information
Services:
Operates not only an Electronic Data Processing System (EDPS)
but also a library where packaging related books and documents
are available. It has approximately 5700 books besides 200
journals. Publishes two bi-monthly magazines and two
English-edition quarterly newsletters.
